Our annual trek returns for 2024!
Challenge yourself in 2024 and join us as we take on a 13-mile trek along Hadrian’s Wall...
Whether you're already a hiking pro or looking for a new challenge, we'd love for you to join Team Sunshine on Friday 24th May, to take on our most historical trek to date!
Trekkers will take on the wonders, beauty and history of Hadrian’s Wall, but don’t be fooled – this isn’t a challenge for the light-hearted.
This 13-mile walk will push trekkers to their limit as they aim to conquer steep inclines, including its highest point at 1,000ft, and complete the challenge in under 8 hours!
Starting at Thirlwell Castle, the route will celebrate our beautiful Northumberland heritage by touring through stunning valleys and fells. Not to mention notorious spots in North East history, such as Housesteads Roman fort, and of course, the recently felled Sycamore Gap. Steel Rigg, Walltown Crags and Crag Lough will also feature along this breathtaking experience, along with the remarkable uninterrupted stretches of the wall itself that remain.
Not only will you undergo some exhilarating gradients to really push yourself, but you’ll also gain a wealth of knowledge from the guides who are experts in the 2000-year history of Hadrian’s Wall.
The challenge will be led by the fantastic Challenge Northumberland and their experienced mountain guides.
Guiding trekkers through their fundraising and training journey will be Team Sunshine’s Fundraising Events Coordinator, Amanda! She will be supporting you with tips to prepare for the big day, as well as offering personal, one-to-one support.

We're thrilled to be working with Challenge Northumberland on this year's trek. Here's what Director, Neville Duncan, has to say...
"Challenge Northumberland are delighted to be supporting the Sunshine Fund on this amazing trek challenge in 2024. The route we are supporting is both stunning and very challenging, the climbs to the highest points on Hadrian's Wall are truly breathtaking in many ways. Your efforts will be rewarded with panoramic views towards the borders, Cumbrian Coast and the Tyne Valley, in our opinion the toughest and best 13 miles of Hadrian's Wall. We look forward to seeing everybody in May 2024"
