We have new charity partners

Hi Sunshine News Readers,

We hope that you are all keeping safe and well. It's wonderful to see the first (real) signs of spring and means we are edging ever closer to the return of our summer events.

This is a cause for much excitement here at Sunshine HQ and we look forward to sharing details of our super busy summer schedule with you all in the coming weeks.

Today’s column celebrates our newest corporate partnership as we are charity of the year for our lovely friends at Arctic Wolf.

Arctic Wolf are a US based global leader in cybersecurity who have now set up their HQ here in Newcastle.

This is a real boost for the region and will see the creation of hundreds of jobs over the next three years as they continue their phenomenal growth.

It's exciting for us too as after initial planning meetings, we know the team are keen to get involved with our events, help us fundraise to purchase equipment for children with disabilities in our region and also support the development of our charity.

Customer Success Director, Nichola Hall is leading on the partnership with us and looking forward to getting stuck into supporting Team Sunshine.

She said: "We recently announced that we are going to have our EMEA HQ in Newcastle, bringing new jobs, which is testament to the growing appeal of the area as a talent hotspot.

"However, it is also important to us that we give back to the region and support the local community.

"We decided the best way to do that was to have a regional charity to partner with where we could have a direct impact on the children in the North East who are supported by The Chronicle Sunshine Fund.

"I have previously worked with them, and I know how passionate the team are about the difference that can be made to the children in the area when there is support in place.

"Arctic Wolf is a company where every employee is encouraged to think about what else they can add outside of their core role, and the inclusive approach of TCSF aligns with how we act every day.

"We will be aiming to attend as many events as possible, and I know I need to get fitter so maybe the Sunshine Run will be the first event we support…..watch this space!”

We can't wait to get started and look forward to spreading some Arctic Sunshine!

We are thrilled to announce that our guaranteed charity places in the GNR have sold out following last weeks column!

Team Sunshine is full of Sunshine families, new and long-term supporters plus an army of runners from our event partners True Potential. Let’s do this #TeamSunshine!

If you’re looking to take on a challenge this year, then there is still time to register to take part in our Yorkshire 3 Peaks trek as we have our final few places remaining.

We (that is the royal ‘we’, as I’ve pulled rank and volunteered Erin and Lauren take part) will be heading to the Yorkshire peaks on Friday May, 20 to take on Whernside (736 m or 2,415 ft), Ingleborough (723 m or 2,372 ft) and Pen-y-ghent (694 m or 2,277 ft).

We would absolutely love for you to join us, so if you’re interested in taking part, please contact our Fundraising and Events Coordinator Erin for more information.

Have a great weekend!
