Santa visits and Christmas Jumper Day

Sunshine News Friday 19th November

Hi Sunshine News Readers

These weeks are passing by so quickly aren’t they, it will be Christmas before we know it!

As always, we’ve been working hard on our Christmas Appeal that will support our families from our October round. This round topped £70K so whilst we have a lot of work to do, we’re confident that the North East will get behind us and support in any way they can.

We have our first Christmas event today at Tesco Extra Kingston Park with Stagecoach and our Santa bus. We have a few schools taking time out of their day to visit us and we can’t wait to see their little faces! Many children in the North East, especially those living with disabilities and additional needs, often miss out on seeing Father Christmas at other events and stores due to accessibility, personal needs and cost and so we are super proud to be offering this free of charge to children in our region.

We will be at Tesco until 5pm today but if you don’t get a chance to pop by, Santa will also be visiting the Killingworth Centre in North Tyneside on Sunday. All of this wouldn’t be possible without the support and kindness of Stagecoach, driver Jon Middlemiss, our trusty volunteers from the Sage Foundation and our friends at Tesco and the Killingworth Centre. It wouldn’t be Christmas without our traditional Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 10 th December, and we’d love for you to join us! With us still adapting to a new norm, anything goes so whether you’re back in the office, working in a café, hotel, supermarket, or bar or still working from home in your PJ’s, please consider supporting us.

We also hope that schools and community groups get involved too, the more the merrier! There is no need to sign up but contact our Events Coordinator Erin (erin.todd@reachplc.com) if you’d like to share your story and possible feature in our column and social media. It’s really easy to donate, you can text to donate £2, visit our website (www.thesunshinefund.org/christmas) or send us a cheque if your team has a nominated Christmas elf who can collect funds. Remember to tag us in your pics on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter using the tag #sunshinefundcjd.

That’s all from us, have a wonderful weekend!
